Now that this is getting seriously competitive at my masjid. With three players in the top 10 of the United States (we’re going to need a badge for that) We need to double the stakes. After a set amount of ‘learn more’ sessions there needs to be a reality check test. For each correct answer there are certain points. For each incorrect answer there is a double penalty off weekly score total. This should be timed, factored by the amount of time they became fluent in their new words and how long it should take them to recall the words.
After 3 learn more sessions a banner comes up and says Alhamdulillah you are on to continue you can increase your score by x or risk x points of your weekly score do you want to continue?
Then the user is presented with a time test of all of the new words that they’ve learned in a set time. This affects those who are concerned about their score and hopefully prevents pressing know, know, know on all words to increase your place on the leaderboard.
So like the first challenge you risk 25%of your daily point gains. Then 50% at the next challenge then 75% then 100% that way only those firm in their daily knowledge get rewarded. The challenge has to be timed though to be effective.
If you do a lot of learning, those words get included in your daily challenge. You will be tested on them when you do the challenge. The actual flash cards and the challenges are two separate things; we don’t want to combine them.
We’re adding a lot more challenge types very soon where you can challenge each other, and the winner gets all the points. As well as being able to challenge the entire leaderboard and top three get all the points, and stuff like that.
Alhamdulillah yes i was just about to suggest a ‘Throwing down the Gauntlet challenge’ where winner takes all but there would have to be a point system for denied requests. I’m interested to see how you implement it.
Alhamdulillah working for Allah is fun. When crypto takes off I’ll spot some serious development. I wish this was in place when i started learning. Although there is a lot to be said for picking up a dictionary. It’s so easy now people get lazy because they can do it at any time. So the challenges and the communities are important. My masjid are in the 1-4 spots nationally we want our badge when you come up with one.
There could also be a challenge where you sort words groups for example these words (they would be in Arabic): mu’mimoon, teen, Muslim, munafiqun, mushrikoon, salsaal, etc.,
Then you sort these words in to boxes. In each box there is already one starting word so you know which category is which. Now let’s say a starting word is muhseneen. Then the words Muslim and mu’minoon would go there as each refers to a person who is on the straight path.
