Like one option will be the same as the other but with the brackets explaining the relationship to a previous word. And only the bracket option will be correct.
Yeah I get this too. Sometimes itâll have 3 options that are all essentially the same thing
Iâve been thinking and maybe grammar and words should be in separate challenges, where after you finish a word daily challenge the next challenge you do is specifically for grammar
And one thing is that you must read to make sure you choose the correct form of the word and itâs very difficult to score the âfast answerâ additional points
Assalaamu Alaikum @Idris @Halimah @Shayaan
We appreciate your feedback. Aside from fixing bugs and improving the challenge algorithm, I would like to mention thatâs itâs really important to take the time to read, understand, and process all the options. This helps the brain differentiate between them, and deepening our understanding of the Qurâan. Youâll gain far more than just pointsâyouâll gain lasting knowledge in sha Allah.
Out of genuine care, I want to emphasize that true learning requires patience. We live in a fast-paced world, but absorbing Allahâs words is a lifelong journey that canât be rushed. Itâs impossible. Allah Himself tells us to reflect, reflecting requires time, and with reflection comes knowledge and wisdom.
Challenges are great for friendly competition and practice, and thatâs healthy. We just need to ensure they donât overshadow our deeper capacity to learn.
In terms of the algorithm, what works best, etc., this is all being worked out in sha Allah.
Jazak Allahu khair, and please be patient as we work through the fixes in sha Allah.
the challenge(s) having a time limit makes us feel like we have to hurry it up when making a choice lol. i think if there was an option for something without a time limit, we would be more inclined to take our time and patiently consider all the options properly. personal opinion tho
Thatâs a totally understandable feeling. The time limit does add some pressure, but the goal isnât just competitionâitâs to strengthen memory retention and deepen understanding. Engaging with the Qurâan under a bit of time pressure helps reinforce recall and recognition of meanings more efficiently, which actually supports long-term learning.
While the challenges encourage quicker recall, we also encourage deeper reflection outside of them. In sha Allah, both aspects work together to enhance understanding.
That said, we appreciate your feedback. Give it a fair and focused shot with patience and weâve also noted your thoughts for consideration.
attached an image to show how confusing the challenge can be now, I think it was more reasonable for speed and learning
Assalaamu Alaikum @Idris
Iâm glad you shared this screenshot! At first glance, the options may seem redundant or confusing, but each one is distinct, and there is only one correct answer.
The form of the word used in the ayah is âtheyâ, which makes option 1 the correct choice. The information in brackets is added information: sometimes relevant for selecting the correct answer, sometimes helpful as a tip, sometimes useful for elimination, and sometimes simply beneficial context.
These challenges are, first and foremost, a way to quiz oneself, with a side of friendly competition. We firmly believe that those who take their time to absorb the information early on will find it much easier over time and gain far greater benefit. Their overall understanding will improve consistently, and most importantly, theyâll retain this knowledge even offline.
Give it a chance with patience As mentioned before, weâve noted this specific concern and will look into it once the major priorities are addressed, in sha Allah.
For me itâs simply that when I read and take the time to understand the options, I expect a good reward (points) for doing so, but I only get one. When I answer without truly understanding, I get more rewards (points) so my brain wants me to take the path which has more rewards.
My idea is that the fast answers are slowed so you still get the +5 points because it takes that time to process and double check instead of instinctively choosing like before
Or
We could add a difficulty system where some words which take time to process could give you additional points, like the one Idris showed
I can appreciate what youâre saying. Itâs natural that our brains want to take the path with immediate rewards, but just putting it out there, that we should also be aware of our original goal: to get lasting rewards - by that I mean gaining actual and true understanding of Allahâs words vs just answering to win the challenge. When I say this I direct it to myself before anyone else.
In a way, this actually forces us to keep our intentions in check, to make sure that we donât lose sight of why why we are gaining this knowledge.
Having said the above, again, we do appreciate noting your perspective and feedback, and this will be looked into in sha Allah.
Jazak Allahu khair for the suggestions!
May Allah accept from all of us.
this is testing to make sure you understand the grammar! not just the vocab
I have read all the above discussions and I am totally of the opinion that we should not have a time limit if we want to completely absorb all the options and understand why the other similar options are wrong.
The human psychology of wanting more points or the time pressure is simply tooo strong.
I suggest a fixed number of questions and unlimited time for a challenge would be great for learning.
And Jazakallah khair for this great appđ
I completely agree that taking the time to read and understand shouldnât be âpunishedâ by getting less points, so perhaps changing the streak to give more points as you avoid mistaken answers will be a good solution, which can compare to the speed bonus. As people take more time to differentiate the answers from with understanding instead of using other tells, they will be faster and gain both the streak and speed bonus, which should be good.
Youâre absolutely right. You need to be able to take your time. For that we have practice challenges and you can do unlimited of them and you can go as slowly as youâd like. But for the time challenges, the time element is important for competition.
