How can I earn more points through practice?

Please explain how the points system works. I am confused how some people can earn 10,000 points in just a few days when I struggle to get 1000 in a week…

Assalamualaikum.

10 points for every new word
2 for every review word
Up to 300 points from the daily challenge (depending on how well you do)
50 points for every practice challenge

The folks earning that many points are learning lots of words every day, that’s all.

Can we earn points through practice challenge also?

Well, once a person completes their lesson, they have an option to “learn more”

By just tapping on that “learn more” button, you get to learn more new words. Pretty self explanatory. For each new word learned you get 10 points. Let’s say I’m learning 15 new words a day, that means a learn more will give me a 150 points. And then it kind of gets out of hand because if you think about how many points you get per week (probably almost 1000-2500) you see that those up on the leaderboard just try to learn more words. Though it can be hard to believe since a person this week has over 40,000

Let’s say this person does the maximum 15 new words a day and does really well on the challenges, they could earn up to 2000-5000 points a week (possibly) now 40000 - 5000 = 35,000 and that means 35000 points just off of new words. Now each new word gives 10 points so 35000 / 10 = 3500 new words if I’m doing the math correctly? It seems hard to believe that someone actually learn that many and remember them but maybe there are some people out there who are able to. After all, one of the Sahaba learned a new language in less than 14 days

yes we’re adding that ability in the latest update. doesn’t seem fair to be able to earn by learning lots of words but not lots of practice.

Or they just keep clicking learn more and pretend they know the words. Perhaps there should be a new word limit?

Also would it be better to be able to up your score in the challenges so that it encourages you to do more rather than being stuck with the score from your first attempt…

You can cheat a million different ways. But really, what’s the benefit of it? I can’t imagine lying on an app like this to get ahead with no real benefit!

Perhaps also only give points for the practice challenge for the first say 5 or 10 attempts where at least 20 words and over 95% success is achieved (ie 19 out of 20 or more)

Also limit new word points for say the first 10/20 per day.

People will cheat the more things are done to reduce that, the better for others.

Also, perhaps have a facility where badges are time stamped or listed in chronological order (newest first)

Yes time stamped badges coming soon. As long as there is no real world benefit to the cheating, InshaAllah it will stay at a minimum. The entire message of Allahs words that we will soon understand will push people in the right direction InshaAllah.

You get 50 points for practice challenge even if you guess or even get all the answers wrong… I tried and successfully got every answer wrong and still earned 50 points. Practice challenge should be changed to perhaps 2 points for every right answer and -2 for every wrong answer

Could work but people can either go slowly or quickly depending on their pace. I find that I can go at a quick pace in the daily challenge and 60%-70% of the time I get the +5 points for answering quickly. It is a pretty tricky challenge and it might need to be changed so that it is easier to get the 5 points which each word answered quickly.

And now that I think about it, it’s actually funny that people if people cheat in this app. I just imagine a person talking to their friends and saying “did you know that I got 1st place in global 5 time in a row in Kalaam?” And the friends are intrigued. Then one of them asks if he can see the score. If the cheater’s friend asks how he knows so much… it’s funny how there is no benefit but people might still want to sacrifice their time without learning much. And then they realize they are wasting their time if they cheat and leave. I don’t know why but know cheating in these types of apps seems a lot more funny

hahah yea this is exactly my thinking. if someone wants to cheat there’s a million ways like just swiping right on flashcards all day. doesn’t make sense to build so many rigid restrictions in place for the tiny percentage of cheaters who literally won’t get any worldly benefit from it.
