Practice Challenge - number of words

I just got 100% on the practice challenge but that could simply mean I got 1 out of 1 question. Again on the personal best theme it would be better if I was told I got 10 out of 10 or 9 out of 10 or 28 out of 30. The last score would actually mean more to me as I would think I am more fluent as speed is importand. Having it as a personal best in terms of number of correct answers would be helpful and incentivises people.

You get 50 points for just answering 1 question right or 20 questions in practice challenge. Surely something more meritorious should be in place?

To be fair, the amount of words i amswer varies, it can be a few or loads depending on how familiar i become with them.

This is a way i learn.
I would like it if the practice is more varied though as yesterday’s was about the same thing.

People use it for different things but for me it is definitely a great review tool for the words i learned.

good idea, updating that number to show total counts, not just a percentage.

as your vocabulary grows, we have more words to choose from, so it’ll get more varied iA.

as discussed elsewhere, we’re not gonna add safe guards in place for cheaters. the assumption is that everyone will be honest. we’re learning the quran here! there are a million ways to cheat for those who want to. there is no worldly benefit to winning anyway.

Point taken…. But even applying a minimum of say 5 or 10 correct answers, to receive points is better than someone who just guesses or doesn’t even bother… just to get point

I understand not changing things for cheaters. That’s one way of looking at it. But the other way is, let’s try make it possible for a level playing field as then more people will benefit which is the ultimate aim. Put another way don’t let the cheaters deter from the sincere users.

you’re describing a cheater though

if we add that, what’s stopping them from just swiping right on flashcards all day?

lol…. Not quite. If I leave my wallet unattended in a park and it gets stolen, then it’s mainly my fault. If someone pickpockets it from my zipped jacket that I was wearing then it’s not really my fault.

So in this context…. You have to get minimum 10/15 answers right to get your 50 points. It makes cheating more difficult and the speed helps the learning?

What about this:

Cheaters are in this app, but they have no benefit, but it makes it unfair and almost impossible for those who just want to learn and get badges for trying their best and putting in effort. Let’s say we just ignore the cheaters and change the system? We can make “competitive” leaderboards where you compete with friends or family members. At the same time a user who invites a family member can get a certain benefit like a badge or something of that nature to encourage people to bring their families into this app. Or people who just have the same learning patterns could be paired up to have these learning competitions. This way “cheaters” as people point out, could be paired with other “cheaters” so everyone could have chances to win top 3

You can already create custom leaderboards with your friends and family. Will give this some more thought iA
