Salam. I had completed 93% of the words before this App update. However, now it’s brought me down to 51% which is really annoying. Also, new words aren’t showing up - I haven’t paused the learning new words.

The Qur’an understanding percentage now takes grammar into account, so you will see an initial drop but it will come back up very quickly once you learn the grammar rules in sha Allah.
There aren’t a lot. May Allah make it easy for you! You can do it in sha Allah! 
The recent update should fix the issue you mention.

How are we meant to learn the new grammar rules, if we are not getting and new review words to learn each day?
P.s, my new understanding is 52%, down from 89% prior to update
Re-take the Grammar test. You go to profile >> Arabic language test,
and select grammar only. My score came back up after I solved that quiz correctly.
