What have you done to this app, it’s not at all good user experience, it was wayyy too better before, these new changes are messed up, see even when i type this messag, I can’t see the notepad what I am writing and 100 other wrong things, please reset it to the orginal .
Also I don’t know what was the use of introducing this chat, adding friends options, we are here to better our Qur’anic language or Arabic, i mean to learn not making Friends or chatting
The discussion board is separate from the Kalaam app and was not changed during the update.
There are many apps that try to teach you vocab, one of the popular ones beings Anki, which is a powerful spaced repetition tool just like this app. However it’s difficult to stay consistent when doing it by yourself so doing it with friends adds accountability and pushing each other to stay consistent.
That’s why the update added friend interaction and talking with them in order to increase the social aspect of the app and make it easier for people to come back daily.
The old version was far too easy to use , simple and relevant.
I myself am a UI UX and Product Designer i know user pain points very well.
For example the challange quiz part, it was easy and we used to get to know ok when to stop as the challange button used to get greyed out now it’s not certain as when we need to stop practicing like we can keep on doing it unless we are exhausted, that doesn’t make any sense, and I also didn’t understand in the challanges and practice too, what is the use of the auto selecting options, if it’s auto choosing the correct answers why it’s there??? And it’s moving too fast as well even can’t read , what’s the purpose of that?
Will you not be reverent? They made an app to learn the Qur’an, good and free, and they keep it updated. I trust God to be guiding them well. You dislike the social features?
To add to what you said, social features are optional. They still have the normal old challenge and you can disable grammar if you don’t like it.
Also, please respect that other people do not learn the same way as you. Some people find it difficult to learn by themselves, and as Allah says in Surah Mutaffifin,
“And let the competitors compete.”
A lot of people need to work or talk with each other to find ways to learn, and with this update it satisfies a lot of that. One thing I think a lot people miss is that these social features strengthen and unite our ummah. It helps us learn from other muslims around the world and find ways for us to learn and share with each other. It makes a stronger and more sociable community.
I know that many people simply want to learn by themselves but at the same time people want to compete with others and talk with other muslims. At this point the friend feature is almost just ignorable so if you don’t really like it, you probably don’t need to worry about it.
About the challenges, people, a lot of people, requested more time to practice as they did not like limits so they added infinite practice challenges. For the new computer skip, it simply is an aid for you as you start Kalaam so that anyone can do the challenges. All it does is skip over the words that you have not learned in the challenge. The more words you learn, the less you will see this auto-answer as you don’t need that help anymore.
Wa Alaikum Assalaam wa Rahmat Allah wa Barakatuh @Daanish_Zaffar
Wa iyyak!
The new update was to add heavy beneficial knowledge that provides further understanding of Allah’s words. Both grammar and language add heaps of understanding and knowledge to the true meanings of the Qur’an. They add deeper shades to the stories being told, to the messages being relayed, and allows you to differentiate between different words that carry very similar and sometimes identical meanings.
With regards to the social aspect, it’s for encouragement and healthy competition. It’s one of the ways to unite the Ummah, and an avenue to keep many driven and focused on what is beneficial for this life and the hereafter. It’s also for support - knowing that you are present with your brothers and sisters in Islam in a safe and respectful environment with a shared purpose is much better than what is out there in this day and age.
We can appreciate that with any change comes some resistance & discomfort. We are creatures of habit, but once we force ourselves out of that comfort zone, we almost always thank ourselves for doing so because we simply learn the most that way.
With these additions, come changes. It’s been almost two weeks since the release, and with that comes a period of fixes and enhancements for a better experience in sha Allah.
In the meantime, we hope that you give yourself and the changes a chance, and in sha Allah you will see it differently and benefit immensely.
With regards to the notepad issue, we appreciate you bringing it forward and will look into it in sha Allah.
If you open the discussion forum in a new browser window by going to https://discussion.kalaamapp.com/, not within Kalaam, it’s actually better. I’m going to change it so that it automatically opens the discussion board outside of Kalaam by default.
