It seems the color of the cloth of the women is the symbol of lg***q because of the color variation. I didn’t expect it from Kalaam. It should be changed. If there is any mistake of mine please let me know. Jazakallahu khair
I don’t see that. It reminds me more of the dress of Latin American indigenous communities and native american colors other than that community.
Yes it’s all about interpretation. The first thing that comes to my mind is a cultural dress, while others may think differently, as Allah created us in different shapes, shades, styles and much more.
For example someone could think of this image as a person refraining from all of the drinks and haram acts. One could also think this image was directed towards other religions that approve of drinking those, and that the people beside him are also “god-conscious”. It’s all about different perspectives and opinions but it’s good to argue over something that could benefit the app inshallah. Image reporting could help but too many personal perspectives it’s almost useless as there are unlimited possibilities for what a person claims the pictures look to them.
Yes stuff like this can have millions of different perspectives. We’re very careful with the images but if you find something really glaring feel free to report it here.
Salaam. Yes, i find it odd too that Kalaam would put this image that is universally known to represent that group, especially for the word kaana = to be. But after reading the discussion about peoples different interpretation, i can understand. Only that i wish it to be clearcut, no shubhah, and giving images of universally accepted norm. And thank you for an awesome app!
As these are probably being put into muslim schools, a lot of these images are probably going to changed due to violence or misinterpretation inshallah so the youth and teachers will not have to worry about this
One could also say some images don’t make sense like the one you showed is confusing because of the mirror but that is probably a minor issue the AI had while generating the image.
This image shows emigration but it is really subtle and hard to understand. I just remember layl (night) and other words like loneliness before I look at emigration because it doesn’t look too much like what emigration would be for many reasons
And for images which should possibly be changed
This one is probably another one similar to the one you shown and the first one but it’s all about interpretation. This image it’s hard to interpret anything else though
Man I hate how they’ve hijacked the rainbow
It is sad how we’ve gotta check the color. And yes, depending on perspective, it may or may not be interpreted as such. However, knowing that there are a vast number of users who will see it as LGBTQ representation, I think we should maybe designate someone and run the images by them before finalizing? Just to remove any doubts. Remember, some sahaba refrained from hanging Qur’anic ayahs in fear that others would see his act and interpret it to mean that they believed the mere hanging of the ayah would protect them, not necessarily the recitation of it. So just to remove doubts!
Good idea
I don’t know if they already have someone in charge or are getting someone but inshallah it’s all gone before Kalaam is put into schools
It’s the way the AI thinks and its really annoying sometimes
there is indeed someone manually going through each image. Will discuss.
Assalaamu Alaikum InFi4D_0,
Regarding your concern, although the dress does resemble a native dress, I just thought I’d let you know that we decided to change the image to avoid any upset/concerns. It will be visible in the next app release in sha Allah.
Also, we’ve set up a new topic called “Image Rescue Spot” just for image issues. Moving forward, it would be great if you could share any future concerns you may have over there so everything’s in one place and easy to find!
Have a wonderful day/evening in sha Allah!

Assalaamu Alaikum Sharifah,
Thank you for sharing your concerns. I want you to know that we take these matters very seriously, and we spent countless hours to make sure the images are as clean as possible. Although we see the colours on the boy as dull & completely different than the bright rainbow colours that are associated with that group, we changed the image to avoid any upset It will reflect in the next app release in sha Allah.

Assalaamu Alaikum Shayaan,
The image for ‘emigrant/emigrating’ tells a story of a person walking on a long winding road, with the ship and house symbolizing traveling/emigrating. Since there are other images with similar meanings and objects for ‘travel’, this was just an effort to be creative and produce a unique image.
Regardless, I understand your concern, and the image has been changed Alhamdllilah. It will reflect in the next app release in sha Allah.
As for the image re ‘to convey’, no worries at all, it has been changed Alhamdllilah.
Ps. The image for ‘to be’ was changed, and in sha Allah it’ll make more sense now.
Assalaamu Alaikum, Raghda
All are AI generated i think.
Yeah which makes it difficult to get the perfect image. If you ask an AI to generate a picture of “for” or “and” it might give take a bit longer to get the right image for the audience
sister @Raghda has spent a lot of time wrestling with the AI to make sure the output looks good. Def not an easy task.
