Leaderboard Netherlands last week

Assalamu aleykum,
Can you please tell me who won the leaderboard? I was in a battle with someone for the 3rd place, so i looked at the scores after every challenge.
Adem was first, with 9000 points ahead of the number 2, Sa’ied. And he was ± 4000 points ahead of me and Masah, and we were close.
But somehow Adem became 2nd and Sa’ied 3rd.

With the leaderboard challenges, calculated at the end of the week, someone can no gain 10 000 points, especially when he/she is not really active in the Netherlands leaderboard.

My suspect is that someone at 23:59 changed his/her location.

Can you look into this, because it is very strange.
And if someone really changed his/her location, in my opinion that should be banned. No points in that country if you change it on Sunday

I totally agree. I was suprised to wake up and saw I was second. I was ahead all week. I even checked Kalaam at like 23.45, and this was still the case. It’s just a game, I won’t cry becomming second. However, it ruins the idea of a leaderboard and motivating each other by it, if someone can hijack a leaderboard like this.

Maybe something else happened, but if this was the case, is should be dealt with. Maybe as Saliha suggested, maybe to restrict points by their country. Points gained as part of one country, should not count to another country when some changes their country.

Unfortunately this seems to be a common occurrence as there is nothing stopping a user from jumping in and out of different leaderboards, (countries or cities) at will, even as you pointed out right at the end of the week. Or as happened to me, a few minutes after the leaderboard had expired, (yes they were still awarded the gold).

Another issue is points can still be accrued even after the cut off time, this should also not be happening.

Kalaam needs to learn from apps like duo lingo where you cannot change the league you are in and you cannot add points to your score even 1 second after the cut off! I hope they do as I can’t learn Quran with duo!

I wonder if it was the same user who was messing about with the U.K. leaderboard and Manchester leaderboard last week?

It’s very sad that this happens on a Quran app no less!!! Surly the words of Allah should be resonating with those studying! You will not be awarded the gold as you should’ve been and you’re right for not letting it affect you, It’s also a burden now on the support staff who have to put in place measures to stop this unfair practice from repeatedly happening!

Wa Alaikum Assalam, Saliha.
We’ve identified the user responsible, and your speculation was correct. A proper fix is currently being discussed with the team.

Yes, unfortunately, it is the same user. We’ve identified the account and are taking appropriate action before the end of this week.

Kalaam is a Quran learning app, and our goal is to help elevate one another through this journey. We’ve intentionally allowed flexibility with location changes to accommodate users who travel or move frequently, but we agree that flexibility should not be taken advantage of.

Regarding the awarding of points: this issue was resolved shortly after your last message. While you may still see leaderboard points briefly displayed after the cut-off, the awarding mechanism is already finalized by that point.
