Help typing ayat numbers

Salaam,

Sorry for being off-topic, does anyone know how to type ayat numbers in a word processor? I found some fonts with that empty character (“end of ayah”), but I can’t figure out how to use it like how to make the numbers go into it. My Arabic is way too poor to serve… for now inshallah.

I mean this character
1000005643

Many thanks and sorry again for straying a bit off-topic,
Christian

Wa Alaikum Assalaam wa Rahmat Allah wa Barakatuh @Christian_Comeau,

No need to be sorry at all! This is exactly what this space if for. We are all here to help each other as much as possible, and Alhamdllilah for that.

I’m definitely not the best person to help with this, but I do have two suggestions.

  1. Ask chatgpt how to place numbers inside the circular arabic verse separator symbol. It will explain to you how to use Unicode specialized fonts.
  2. Google “how to place numbers…” and you will get a list of links to help you out. Just be careful with what you click on and what you download. Make sure you download from a secure site.

Other than the above, I invite anyone who can help brother Christian to come forward with some more details and direction.

May Allah make it easy for you, and in sha Allah your Arabic will be amazing before you even know it! Just keep reading the Qur’an and understanding it via the translation. Keep going back and forth, and keep repeating, and in sha Allah you will suddenly find the gates of understanding open wide by Allah’s grace and kindness.

Repetition and paying close attention is :old_key:

Thank you Raghda, I didn’t think of asking chatgpt but it did provide a decent answer… it said: type that character, then make a text box over it for the number.

I was trying to share a specific English translation, but those symbols won’t copy-paste.

Many thanks for the kind words

@Christian_Comeau You’re very welcome! No thanks necessary at all. I’m glad to help whenever I can Alhamdllilah.

I understand the issue you’re facing.

I did a deeper search for you, and I found a Windows software that integrates with Microsoft word. It allows you to search and insert Qur’anic verses directly into your document. I must mention however, that I myself have never used it, but I do see a high number of downloads on the site.

If this is something you’re interested in, follow the simple steps below.

Google quranword and click on the English link
Click on ‘download’ listed at the top
It’ll take you down to the download button
Once you click on it, you’ll see a pop up screen, click on the ‘dowload 64bit’

Once it downloads, go ahead with setup and install and follow instructions.

I hope this is what you’re looking for, and I hope it helps make your life easier in sha Allah.

If you do go ahead with it, please let me know if all’s well.

Raghda.

Oh interesting software… might come handy, but I use LibreOffice

I have played around and found a solution that works for me. I write the number first, then something like Edit Area and i select my png transparent file as a pattern. Works surprisingly well…

Looks good! Thank you for sharing, happy to know you worked it out Alhamdllilah.

I’m also glad to know about LibreOffice. I’ve been looking for something for a while, so thanks!

@Christian_Comeau I know that you worked it out on your end, but I just wanted to let you know that after downloading LibreOffice myself, I found out that they have 2 extensions (QuranLo & Cite Qur’an) that allow you to add verses seamlessly into your document. They also include the verse separator, and you can edit them easily because they’re not the full circular ones.

If you ever want to get the extensions, you can just google LibreOffice extensions, and you’ll find them there. Cite Quran requires java, which can be easily downloaded. If you need help with anything don’t hesitate to ask.

I’ve actually been wanting these exact tools for quite some time. May you be abundantly rewarded for every time I use LibreOffice and these extensions in pursuit of beneficial knowledge and in the path of Allah.

I managed to install them (or rather, managed to install java :joy:) Works really well! I’m glad this turned out beneficial for you too

What started as a chore turned out quite fun, here are some more I made.

That’s great! They all look so nice.

And this is just proof that nothing in Allah’s path is really a chore  Alhamdllilah, I’m really happy it all resolved quite quickly for you.
